The first telegraph informing the MacDonald family in Lourdes, Nova Scotia, that their son, Ian Ross MacDonald was missing in action.  Parachuting to safety, Ian and his crew eluded capture after a bombing raid on Germany.  After his plane was shot down, he was on the run from April to October 1943.  Eventually Ian was betrayed to the Germans and was made a Prisoner of War in Germany till late spring of 1945 when he was released.  He and his family's wartime correspondence has been scanned onto a CD-ROM for his family to celebrate Ian's 80th birthday, July 14th, 2002.  My uncle, Ian resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
