Here are some of my favourite things. (This is a work in progress.) |
Actor: a toss up between Robert Deniro and Al Pacino Actress: haven't decided yet--there are just too many Beer: yes please. Bone Folders: Real bone and not the plastic telflon type. Books: anything in hardcover - but a book is a book is a book. I particularly like books about books, like Nicholas Basbanes' recent titles or the book byRick Gekoski. Bread: 100% whole wheat, the cheaper the better Cheese: Roquefort (Penicillium roqueforti) or same day St. Albert's cheese curds (salted). Ah! There is a God. Chocolate: Baker's Semi-Sweet. Again, not too sweet, not too...what? bitter? Colour: Khaki...of course. Condiment: Mayonaise. It goes with mustard real well. cookbook: André Simon's Guide to Good Food and Wine (1960 ed.) Any book that tells you how to cook a giraffe, elephant or aardvark has a place in my heart. Day of the week: Any day of the week is alright with me...get serious, you'd think I'd say something silly like Friday. Dictionary: Oxford Compact Dill Pickles: Strub's Kosher Dill Pickles Garden Fresh Halves. Dust Jacket Protectors: Brodart. I am too embarassed to use the Gaylord variety. I'm just quirky like that. 'Not that there's anything wrong with that.' There are several books in my library with these covers. Brodart has amazing catalogs, too. Fast Food: It was breakfast at McDonalds but I have been getting too fat. I hate it when the cashier lady knows me by name... Films: Documentary type preferred. Specifically, adult bears eating salmon and young bears learning to catch and then eat salmon. Fun! Fish: Dutch Herring or smoked salmon Flooring: Carpet. It's just that much warmer (can't afford hard wood) :-( Game: currently it's ping pong on a left over ply-wood sheet. I know, I know. It's not a regulation size playing surface but it's still fun. Hardware store: Home Depot. The people there are just too friendly to hate. Knife: OLFAL snap off blade...always sharp Meat sticks: Schneider's Hot Rods Milk: Sealtest Fat Free Skim Milk Oatmeal: Quaker Oats One Minute type...fast Pants: Tan Chino or khaki with a crease Pen: a toss up between a BIC and a Paper-Mate FINE. Pencil: HB...what kind of psycho uses a 2H? Person: I might be biased, but it's you for reading all this stuff. Pipe: Butz-Choquin Calabash Place I've been: New Orleans during mardi gras. [the horror...] Potato: Yukon Gold...nice colour and texture--Canadian too. Season: Summer. Spring just smells like worms and dog poo. Shirt: Khaki or white button down Simpson: used to be Bart, now it's Jessica ;-) Singer: Johnny Cash or Chet Baker Single Islay Malt Whisky: Laphroaig 10 Years old. It's the iodine flavour. soup: fish chowder Spice: pepper style of cooking: French Televised sport: Womens Canadian Curling ("Hurry! Hard!") or British Darts ("One hundred and forty!" In an English accent gets me every time.) temperature: room Toothpaste: Gotta be Crest. Colgate is just too pasty, yuk. Tree: white cedar, it's just so functional. Cures scurvy and looks pretty all year long. TV: Food Network Two Ply White Tissues: Scotties; the mascot is just too cute. Underwear: Fruit of the Loom boxers, you cheeky monkey weather phenomenon: Alberta Clipper Web Site: Google Winter coat: KANUK, anything less is just sub-standard.
